A cow literally is an animal that requires a herdsman to cater for it and provide its food, by taking it to where to eat and all that. Now a cow cannot decide for itself, or go on a specific direction unless it is directed by someone or something.
in this context a cow is defined as a christian that only works for God when he/she is in an area confined by christian brethren that would watch and direct such Christian's life style.
Confined Workmanship means a form of workmanship within bounded area only, or within a restricted area.
Why COW?
When you don't read the word, you don't listen or take time to listen to the word, the only thing left in your heart is the Sunday school lines and punchlines of your childhood, you become a cow. when you don't have the word of God in your heart, then there's nothing to enrich your soul and you don't have a direction of how to live your life.. that's when you begin to live how you will not how God wills for you as a christian. When you're in church you do the things of God and when you're alone you become a lone ranger. A cow becomes directionless once his master is not close by.
2. Lack of the Spirit of God (HOLY SPIRIT);
Matthew 3:11New International Version (NIV) “I baptize you with water for repentance. But after me comes one who is more powerful than I, whose sandals I am not worthy to carry. He will baptize you with the Holy Spirit and fire.
As a christian you are filled with the Holy spirit once you have given your life to Christ, now if a man has allowed the spirit in him to die, out of not constantly feeding the spirit as in number 1 above by reading the word, then there is a high tendency that such person lacks direction, and if left alone would depart from God's way due to false doctrines.
3. Mindset; Everyone today has a mindset of what he/she believes and what he/she wouldn't believe, now a man can decide in his heart even after reading the word and knowing the rules to still depart from the right way i.e to be a cow. sometimes you feel like the gathering of the brethren is a prison he/she is also likened to be a cow.
Dangers of being a COW(confined workman):
1. Destruction: Most rampaging cows on the high way get hit by a bus or fall sick and probably die or fall into the hands of another master or group which might not be favorable. 2 Peter 2:1, here the later part says "they've put themselves on a fast downhill slide to destruction. surely a cow on a downhill can only be saved from crashing or dieing if there's a force to pull it back up no matter how it strives it cannot.
a christian that allows hm/herself to rampage out of the will and direction of God is likely to be hit by forces that would kill/destroy him/her both physically and spiritually. four things happen:
a. Spiritual Life dies
b. become physical riddicle
c. Pushed around by different doctrines
d. Lost Eternity.
Being a cow is being a HYPOCRITE!!!
How to stop being a cow:
1. Repent: First you must accept that you're wrong, this means recognizing the fact that you have gone astray, you have left God's direction, then ask for forgiveness and change your ways. Matthew 18:17 New International Version (NIV) If they still refuse to listen, tell it to the church; and if they refuse to listen even to the church, treat them as you would a pagan or a tax collector.
